Great report this morning on OTL on ESPN about the safety in youth football. If interested, just go onto ESPN.com and look for it under Outside the Lines. It is worth the watch if you have a child playing youth football.
Pop Warner has really started to look at safety in regards to youth athletes. They are the first youth football organization to limit full contact drills during practices. They also are telling teams there should be no intentional head to head contact. I find this to be refreshing, especially with the outpouring if information now a days regarding concussions. Kids at a young age should not be subject to as much head to head contact as they have been in the past. More and more studies are revealing that it can cause a cumulative effect over time. Glad to see the Pop Warner organization leading the way on this topic.
